As a Long Island based hip-hop artist and entrepreneur, Derek “DA” Anthony has been proclaimed as the inspiring visionary with an ever-creating picture.

Outlining his picture: no pencils, no stencils - Los Angeles native, Derek Anthony, signs his name with a permanent marker as the local finesse to fresh barber;

CEO of record label MisFits Entertainment and marketing firm Smash Brothaz Entertainment; Co-Founder and Producer of Long Island’s #1 weekly creative expo The EarWaxx Sessions; and award-winning Recording Artist cosigned by Huffington Post, Newsday, Hot 97, Sirius Satellite Shade 45 and

Bringing out the easel on an easy day, DA paints a portrait of his band A.D.D. (Always Determined and Dedicated) jamming to his top influences: Curtis Mayfield, Tupac, Pimp C, and Andre 3000; and embracing his child-like side playing with Legos. Perhaps subconsciously foreshadowing the building of his empire.

Hip-Hop is a baby right now”.

No need to crawl through the ‘he said she said’ or imagine walking in the shoes of Derek Anthony, this artist welcomes all passengers to drive down Emerald Lane and then parallel parks his past with the present at 18 North.

“Rapping is like a right of passage .. it was a gateway to my soul. I was always a very intuitive & poetic kid but when those traits evolved into skills it happened through rap. It all began at 18 N Emerald Lane, where I grew up in Amityville, Long Island, NY. This is the birth place of my journey through hip hop …18 N is a melodic yet lyrical testament to what I’ve seen as well as been through”.

In addition to appreciating DA the Future’s flavorful appeal and improvisational flow, it is essential to Rewind and Play close attention to the lyrics in 18 N.

In the record 18Nsydout, Derek Anthony sullenly shares the loss of his father with his fans saying: “pops looking down, I know he’s proud”.  Furthermore, his belief in a heavenly Father (growing up listening to gospel as opposed to secular music) sparked his initial interest to explore writing. This pertinent influence expressed in Vices reveals “him singing ghetto hymns” during his pursuit to move people with his music.

“Christ was humble … the life transitioning is not about the person but the story”

Nevertheless, DA took another loss from the tragic effects of Hurricane Sandy.  He went from wanting to be the best artist - to - finding his place in the world.  This epiphany that Ppl Change lead him to produce thought-provoking music with the hopes of waking up his generation from a coma. With struggle comes triumph is what the Dreamers Say; hence DA’s undeniable passion for success shown in his riveting words: “just don’t stop, just don’t quit… no matter how hard it gets”.

Derek Anthony refuses to be kept “inside the box like a white crayon”; his pummeling sound has rocked the Tri-State:

Chosen as the opening act for MGK, DMX, Pusha T, Freeway, , Mobb Deep, KRS-One, Cam’ron, Juelz Santana, Fred the Godson, Cyhi the Prince and more.

Gracing renowned stages at the Bamboozle Festival, Gramercy Theatre, Westbury Music Theatre, Apollo, BB Kings, The Emporium, Hiro Ballroom, SOB’s, in addition to many popular venues in NYC and Long Island.

It is no surprise that his talents lead to notable press, celebrity affiliations, and grand performances. Prior to the release of 18 N Derek Anthony was buzz-worthy of the following:

Battle of the Bands Winner with none other than A.D.D.

“The judges took note of DAs’ commanding presence, the power of Shea’s voice (they all mentioned her standout talent) and the killer violinist [Classique]. They never saw anyone play the violin and jam-on-it like an electric guitar”

Releasing 31 freestyles in the month of March (March Madness) and “2 Girls and 1 Blunt” video selected to be aired on Music Choice (Dank & Drank EP).  Nonetheless, his public-stamp of approval in the Nassau and Suffolk County was highlighted as the recipient of Best Male Artist (2010) and Best New Video (2011) at the Long Island Music Awards.

It is a blessing to experience the universe of DA the Future while he goes out on a limb and takes the world for a spin, transforming hip-hop with his story-telling verses and vibrant live sound performances.  This exemplary artist has a philosophical old soul and young heart with desires of creating a new genre of music.

The magnetizing aura of DA the Future as the leader of his record label, marketing firm and weekly creative event portrays his power-wheel drive to succeed as a collective.
